Samurai FC

Samurai FC was formed in September 2021 with the hopes for Japanese children in the region of Christchurch, New Zealand to stay connected with their cultural identity through enjoying sports.

Currently we use football as our medium, hosting holiday football clinics, summer junior teams, and annual Japanese style athletics days.

History

In September 2021, four high school students: Jun, Keisuke, Kosei, and Lucas (from left to right) came together to reflect upon the history of the Japanese football community in Christchurch and discuss what we could do not as players, but as coaches to give back to the community and develop the future generation.

This was the start of Samurai FC

Two and a half years has passed by since then and we have had a total of 9 holiday programs, 3 seasons of junior football and individual lessons, with a total of over 60 participants aging between 7-13 years old, continuously expanding.

We hope to continue delivering quality programs in the future to ultimately create a sustainable cycle with Samurai FC graduates becoming coaches to teach the younger generation and give back to the community that brought them up.
